As Israel gets bogged down, and, is seen to be unable to fulfill its military aims, it'll be tempted, or forced, to escalate the war into Lebanon and attack Hezbollah. That will divert attention away from the Gaza quagmire and failure, and more importantly probably 'drag' the United States into the wider war in the Middle East, which'll then put enormous pressure on Iran to intervene, and then what?
If that wasn't bad enough, we then see the outline of a possibly very dark future; because, now that the leaders of the West have given the green light for the mass slaughter, the genocide in Gaza to go ahead, what else are they and Israel not capable of doing? I mean, one would imagine that genocide was a pretty big red line to cross, no?
If the Gaza genocide is now policy and acceptable, why not the first use of nuclear weapons by Israel if it feels threatened, an existential threat from Hezbollah and Iran? The step from genocide in Gaza to using nuclear weapons is a far shorter one than most people think. Hezbollah is highly disciplined, well armed, supposedly 50,000 strong, with over 10,000 rockets and missiles at their disposal. If Gaza is proving to be a hard nut to crack, then Hezbollah is on a completely different level.
So, that's what I see when I look into the abyss. And now it's too late to stop Israel, the ultra rightwing are already in power, obvious criminals, racists and fanatics, capable, as they've shown in Gaza, of doing anything, of crossing any normal, civilized, moral, line in the sand.
