Here's a small bit of legalese though "South Africa, mindful of the jus cogens character of the prohibition of genocide and the erga omnes and erga omnes partes character of the obligations owed by States under the Genocide Convention, is making the present application to establish Israel’s responsibility for violations of the Genocide Convention; to hold it fully accountable under international law for those violations; and — most immediately — to have recourse to this Court to ensure the urgent and fullest possible protection for Palestinians in Gaza who remain at grave and immediate risk of continuing and further acts of genocide". But even here, most of the paragraph is totally comprehensible
But just as importantly as establishing what appears to me, and Mearsheimer, an unarguable case for treating Israel's action in Gaza as genocide, this long and beautifully constructed submission, by describing in painful detail the murderous mistreatment and subjugation of the Palestinian people over so many years, it provides a secure historical and factual foundation for everyone on which all arguments relating to Israel and Palestine can be built.
It is the sort of report a police jurisdiction might construct on a captured and arrested notorious serious killer before trying him. Justice is supposed to be blind, but in the case of Israel and its supporters, let's hope justice has shark's teeth also.
Cheers, John M
