Mercouris explains at the very start why the Court were unable to demand a ceasefire.
The decision of the court is very welcome and historic. But to get traction, the media need to take on a moral crusade and bring all our western leadership to account. Failing to do this will allow politicians to fudge the issue and a public to remain passive and uninvolved.
Mercouis says Germany cannot avoid dealing with this judgement, and perhaps Europe generally, which hopefully will fracture the west on this matter and isolate the US and Israel. ,
As I and others here noted at the time, the murderous language of so many Israeli politicians and military people might well come back to bite these monsters' and they may yet have cause to regret their intemperance. Mercouris is incredulous that Israel's allies hadn't told Israel just to shut up. Maybe they did, but as long as the US and the UK continued to provide monetary and military assistance, and did not threaten to stop this, then there we no big stick, just the wet bus ticket, which a basically criminal regime could ignore. .
