The last part of Thatcherist ideology still upheld is the idea that inflation should only be controlled by Interest rates, which as the above points out, is actually a very slow inefficient mechanism.
It's axiomatic that taxes would do the job much more efficiently and quickly but of course all the talk of morality goes out the window because the rich refuse to countenance the idea of paying more taxes.
That's the real problem: all else is cant, subterfuge and evasion.
