There was a quite incredible "interview" on Newsnight last might with an Israeli spokesman who denied there was a starvation in Gaza and said there was in fact plenty of food but that Hamas was hoarding it or stopping it reaching the population. Instead of challenging this the weak and useless interviewer (forgotten his name) lobbed a few soft queries at him and finished with profuse grovelling thanks for his taking part.

As has been remarked a number of times, just imagine this interview had it been Russia that was bombing a captive population of over 2 million and murdering over 32,000, most of them women and children.

These are desperate, despairing times to be living in.
