This talk is hard to follow, Prof Keen gallops along - assuming his listeners will know something about global warming, fine, but he seems to be assuming we might know something about economics, not so fine. He makes references to papers, theories, calculations that I can't really follow. His talk should be slowed down and majorly simplified for the lay listener, and his critique of neo-classical economics reduced to a few simple principles, ideas and graphs. I have no doubt he's right, capitalist economics now rules our societies via a political class who don't understand global warming, that's true, but who don't actually understand the economics that they espouse and are wedded to. For instance, for me, one of the most absurd matters of neoliberalism is the so called separation of political leadership from the control of money by central banks. The last forty years have proven again and again that this just doesn't work. He becomes ever more apocalyptic through his talk, and is enthusiastic on Elon Musk's colonisation of Mars as being the only saving of human knowledge, he calls it a Martian Monastery. He's pretty rude about his fellow economists, idiot savants and worse, so it's no wonder he works on his own now. I think if he doesn't alter the way he delivers his message, he'll gain no more traction that he has now, and will remain a footnote in our history, if we still have a history in one hundred years' time. .
