The viciousness and supremacist thinking is shocking - what I struggle to understand is why so many Israelis seem to have such a high opinion of their own and the US's military prowess. The Israeli army is no longer that of Moshe Dyan - it didn't fare particularly well in its first encounter with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hezbollah has massively strengthened since then. And the US military hasn't decisively won any of the conflicts it has involved itself in since WW2. So, not a recipe for success in battle in my opinion - why do Israelis not see this?

FWIW, I have long thought that Israel would eventually collapse as a result of its founding conundrums - particularly that a state cannot be both a democracy and predicated on ethnicity unless it takes extreme measures to exclude every other ethnicity and that's really not doable - what plans do they have for their own Arab population now accounting for around 20% of the total population? Then there's the immense divisions in Israeli society such as those between secular and religious Jews, between the largely western settlers and the descendants of those Jews expelled from most Middle Eastern countries in the 1940's and 1950's etc etc.

I think, however, that Netanyahu's insane response to Hamas's attacks on 7th October has hastened the collapse of Israel - they cannot win a regional war even with the US and NATO alongside. This is why I can't understand why Israelis can't see this - they are literally supporting the destruction of their own state.
