Oddly physicists seemed to be over-represented in previous denial campaigns relating to tobacco, and the ozone layer. The strand of arch-conservatism on display from the prominent characters stemmed from the nuclear programme and US govt-funded military projects like the Star Wars anti-ballistic missile project.
