But where are the perpetrator’s own words? Where is there any explanation of motive? Typically (at least in high profile cases in the US) some smattering of something that looks like evidence is presented, such as a history of social media posts, info on movements, associations, affiliations. Did I miss something? Or is the withholding of information to “respect the privacy of those involved” a potent tool in the hands of the powerful to stir the pot during a long hot summer?
