In the 60s and early 70s, we used to go to Skeggy each year with the British Legion (We all got a ten bob note!). Once, a train stopped near Warsop and we were manhandled aboard. I liked the ten bob more than the beach which seemed suspiciously bereft of sea but it was a day out which we wouldn't have had otherwise. A couple of years ago I decided that I wanted to go back for reasons of nostalgia but the train from Hull was £140 day-return (each). Fuck that!
