In 2022 Keir Starmer promised that Labour would stop the energy price cap going up. Now that he's conned his way into power, he's sitting back and letting it happen.

In August 2022 Keir Starmer unequivocally stated that "Labour would stop the energy price cap going up", yet now that he’s snuck his way into power as Prime Minister by default, that’s exactly what they’re allowing to happen.
This isn’t even Starmer’s first brazen lie about his plans for the UK energy sector either.
Back when he was running his duplicitous and deceptive campaign to become Labour leader he claimed that he was committed to renationalising Britain’s privatised shambles of an energy market.
Once he’d cheated his way into the Labour leadership Starmer hastily reversed his position on energy renationalisation, committing himself to protecting the profits of the greedy private energy companies that have been bleeding British families and the British economy dry for decades.
Given Starmer track record of lying, it’s hardly surprising that he’s reversed position on stopping Britain’s lamentable energy watchdog from green-lighting even more private energy profiteering.
Starmer knows as well as everyone else that the private energy profiteers have been raking in obscene £multi-billion profits since the energy inflation crisis, that energy prices are still way higher that what they were in 2021, and that electricity standing charges have been inflated by a whopping 147%.
Given the vast parliamentary majority Starmer commands, he knows that he has the power to stop this inflation-busting 10% price hike like he promised he would, and to reform the obscene standing charge system that penalises low energy use too.
And Starmer knows that the dire consequences of this latest inflation-busting energy price hike are going to be exacerbated by his decision to take the Winter Fuel Allowance away from millions of pensioners.
The truth is that he doesn’t want to intervene on behalf of struggling British families to prevent this unjustifiable energy profiteering, and he never had any intention to either. He was just lying because he believes he can get away with it.
He knows he could rein in the debilitating greed of the energy profiteers, or renationalise the sector and run it for the benefit of the British economy instead, but he simply doesn’t want to, because he’s intent on serving the interests of the capitalist energy profiteers, not the interests of British families, or the wider British economy.
The last working-class hero in England.
