'a cautionary tale for those who put their faith in charities as a social structure. They are inherently undemocratic, making them vulnerable to “carpetbaggers” who can acquire considerable power over the future of the charity in a short time and without investing a penny of their own money.' - https://www.monktonwyldcourtcase.co.uk/
Trustees should have been booted out after the failure of their attempt at property speculation which caused the financial problems (how does that square with the politics of the magazine anyway?) but I don't know what legal recourse the magazine would have had over the trustees if they were two separate groups. Probably the PN people were too nice about it too which just invites being steamrolled by stronger personalities with no scruples about mediation, constructive engagement, consensus decision-making etc. At least they named and shamed them, but unfortunate that they couldn't see any way out other thanresigning en masse, which I guess will be the end of the publication. Pity.
cheers,
