Do you remember him in "The Great Escape"? at the end he gets killed but the real him and the James Garner character did nick an aeroplane and managed to get over the front line. They spent the rest of the ar fighting with the Red Army....
He was also one of the the best things in "Escape from New York", pipped by Isaac Haye's motor. ;O)
