My wonderful son who died at the age of 38, five years ago, spent six harrowing months in the hospital suffering pain, disappointments, setbacks and indignity. Some of the joy and comfort he and we got during that time came from escaping into the worlds of Colombo, Midsomer Murders, Murder She Wrote, dramatizations of the Patrick O’Brian books, Sherlock Holmes, etc. He loved Peter Falk.
