I can't even bear to look expecting more of the same...
General Curtis Lemay threatened to "Bomb the North back to the Stone Age", and it's one of the few times the US stuck to its words. They dropped more bombs: 635,000 tons on Korea than they had used in the entire Pacific War...and only stopped when there was nothing left standing to bomb.
They murdered millions... by some estimates more than a fifth of the population. It even horrified McArthur:
"I have never seen such devastation. I have seen, I guess, as much blood and disaster as any living man, and it just curdled my stomach the last time I was there. After I looked at the wreckage and those thousands of women and children and everything, I vomited … If you go on indefinitely, you are perpetuating a slaughter such as I have never heard of in the history of mankind.”
...Yet that little country came back from the mass murder and the "Stone Age" the US had bombed them back to then miraculously rebuilt their own society.
Whatever shortcomings one might have or criticisms one might make of that society, what they achieved from the very, very, bottom: from the rubble was miraculous. The people of Korea and those of the North especially are owed a huge apology from a world that let that happen and massive reparations from the US perpetrators of yet another genocide...
Yet what do we do? We are required merely to laugh at the "little fat dictator" and his quaintly backwards little country...oh! and their quite mad paranoia: don't forget that...silly: as if the civilised West was any kind of threat to them...
-The perpetrators memories are always the shortest, the victims the longest: both for a reason.
