Well I know nothing about the military but it's kinda basic maths...even if they were most crucialy actually in service: the Yanquis themselves can only keep about half their own stock kinda usable at any given time, so Israel's stock will be poorer, they only have a range of 1300 odd miles.

So that's already half to two thirds down in number before we start...but never mind: to the target chaps! Tehran is say, about 1000 miles away...which means they can't get home without refueling...which would I imagine involve refuelling over Iraq somewhere with their flying gas-station...which being slow has been tracked and followed as it has to be placed enroute beforehand. That leaves them as sitting ducks loitering 500 miles away. Alternatively they would have to drop their missiles somewhere over Iraq hundreds of miles from the target and turn back...dunno about the missile logistics of that one.

Anywise I suspect US Individual heroic "Top Gun" thinking has long past its apogee...but they are just figuring that out.
