Intuitively we know the power of natural selection makes sense, but we still look for an invisible hand.
Same with political selection. The people at the top are utter cunts. How can it be that such people were uniformly selected, that there is not anyone there with any hint of a better nature that can be appealed to? Again, it can seem perplexing, there most be some missing factor, but in a country of 60 or 80 million people, how many cunts do you really need?
I can assure you that if you come anywhere near to established power, you are being scanned. You will be, in a sense, courted, flattered, shown a hint of what is on the other side of that door until it is clear you are useless - a disappointment. Craig Murray will have experienced that selection mechanism in action to be sure. There is no doubt about it. But being raised in the post-war era, he simply thought that the mechanisms put in place at that time provided a different selection mechanism. They did not though, the selection was the same but simply weaker for a period of time. The biggest cunts were still at the top, simply it was possible for them to surround themselves with greater numbers of nicer people for a while.
