'Yesterday Israel:
deliberately attacked UN peacekeepers in three separate bases;
bombed residential central Beirut killing and maiming hundreds;
abducted, beat up and held an American journalist;
slaughtered 30 Palestinian refugees in an UNRWA school;
was found by an official UN Commission Report to be guilty of the crime against humanity of “extermination” in Gaza.'
Norm Finkelstein makes the point in the Useful Idiots interview posted below that Netanyahu is using the US election cycle to ramp up Israel's atrocities, knowing that MSM coverage will focus on the election. I think it's also not an accident that we've seen such a surge of horrors shortly after the Oct 7th anniversary. Corporate media around the world (in western countries particularly) has been harping on about the suffering of Israelis, presenting them as victims for the last couple of weeks. This must enter into the calculations of what Netanyahu and the IOF think they can get away with, knowing that criticisms will be muted and those daring to publicly oppose the atrocities will be more vulnerable to the anti-semitism libel with Israeli worthy-victimhood newly fresh in everybody's minds. Therefore, in choosing to amplify the suffering of Israelis at the expense of the far worse suffering of Palestinians and now Lebanese, Iranians, Syrians, Yemenis, corporate journalists bear direct responsibility for the extra murders carried out by the state of Israel during this time. (Of course they share responsibility for all the murders, more broadly speaking, for managing the racist propaganda narrative surrounding & driving this conflict from the outset.)
