Thank you Richard, it is profoundly sickening. And perhaps the worst thing is our profound impotence to do anything about it. There must have been many thousands of Germans sickened by what was happening to their country under Hitler, they'd have know, and felt then like those humane and concerned people posting here also feel today. There are tides in history in which the stones on the beach get carried along willy-nilly, good and bad, indifferent and concerned, boulders and pebbles alike, and sometimes that tide will take us to a very evil place indeed. I think this is what is happening now. It's not just the Palestinians that have been betrayed, but our common humanity. There is a yawning moral chasm in our leadership in the US and the "West" so deep that no amount of charity or humanity can now fill and cover over. We could all still fall into this very dark and horrible place, perhaps to end up in WW3, and where our common existence' can ultimately be re-united in death.
