"Friends, over the past few days, the Department for Reviewing Appeals of the Administration of the Head and Government of the Chechen Republic has received more than two thousand letters addressed to me from residents of Ukraine, asking me to cancel my earlier order not to take AFU soldiers prisoner.

The letters vary in content, written by women whose relatives were mobilized and by men at the frontline against their will.

However, the explanation for the request in each statement is the same: surrendering to Russian troops is the only way for those forced into the trenches to stay alive.

Moreover, Ukrainian soldiers have long known that the 'Akhmat' special forces treat prisoners humanely.
