We are now in ENSO neutral conditions, possibly coming into a weak La Niña - which tends to cool the planet down a wee bit. But that 2024 is continuing the truly dramatic rise in temperature of 2023 is pretty worrying.

If you look at the temperature graph provided, you can see the classic curve of a graph of an exponential function, ie. the planet is not only heating up, but the rate of the heating up is increasing. I cannot see now how any scientist can deny this.

According to another article, the rate of warming in the decade 2014-203 was 1.26 deg. So if this doesn't accelerate any more, that's 7 x 0.26 = 1.82 deg C by 2100, or 1.5 + 1.82 = 3.32 deg C rise from pre-industrial times by 2100.

Fortunately though, the wise citizens of America have elected a man who can deal to this matter by simply denying it is happening and not wasting time or money by doing anything about it. Solipsism may well indeed be humanity's best defence.
