Sure, they don’t speak our language for the approximate reason that the voters they speak to are never going to be us. But since when did the US government actually serve either the literal wishes or needs of (their base in) the electorate? Is this really destined to be the first time ever? They serve the wishes of the donor class - who can impact them in between elections. For this reason, I think one thing we can be fairly sure of is that Palestinians are likely to pay a heavy price for the most recent choice of US voters. I think everything else is unpredictable and stands a good chance of being non-linear as the internal conflicts in the US take shape. Just one example: The last Trump administration had John Bolton in a major position, yet the net outcome was a hastening of the global decline of the USA without a major superpower military or nuclear exchange. |
