We're about to see -- in fact, it started hours ago -- the BBC at its most repellent: the way it goes all reverent and head-noddingly serious about a leftish figure it once worked tirelessly to undermine and whose values and acheievements it did all it could to smear and deny.

I remember seing how all this was done to Eric Heffer, the long-serving leftish MP for a place not far from where I lived. For literally decades the BBC treated him as some kind of frighteningly dangerous clown -- only for local TV to go all dewy-eyed and call him 'a great parliamentarian' after he died, even showing their little interview with the big man looking terribly frail and ill. Bastards.
