It's fairly common to put up one or two "sacrifice" candidates that you don't mind having to drop out or get nixxed and then everyone feels like they have done their duty of scrutiny; Gaetz always felt like one of those. Now he's nominating Pam Bondi who is more legally qualified but way more of a MAGA loon (she from Florida which should be enough said )
