Can anyone wrap their heads around what's happening in Syria? I remember for years the biggest city Aleppo was divided between jihadi factions and government/Kurdish forces who ground eachother to standstill until the government took the city with much fanfare and pushed the jihadis out into Idlib.
Now, if you look at the map, government militias are vacating the areas around Aleppo and Kurdish forces (SDF) are filling the void to fight the advance of the fast-moving jihadis sweeping in from Idlib. It's shocking to see that hard-fought for city fall so quickly. Has Syria and it's Lebanese allies been weakened so much by Israel? This is part of the wider proxy war on Russia but it's surprising that al-Qaeda has been handed such an opportunity on a platter.
