If that turns out to be true, it's fishy as hell and it would look like someone set him up. It wouldn't be some random anti-air battery seeing a plane and going, "Yeh, best shoot that down, Assad might be on it". Someone would have arranged the flight and then sent the flight plan, times, etc. to the shooter.

If it's true, that is. I guess we'll find out in a little while. It's notable that there is no commentary about where Assad has gone, just "Assad fled" type comments in the reporting.
