Labour's decision to mug WASPI pensioners is made all the worse by their pre-election promises that they were going to correct the injustice.
Another Angry Voice
Dec 21, 2024
In announcing the decision to deny compensation to the millions of WASPI women who had their pensions stolen, Labour aren’t just mugging pensioners again, they’re proving themselves utterly cynical vote-stealing liars.
Just look at the way they pretended that they cared about the WASPI pension injustice before the general election, and compare it with their callous decision to deny millions of women the compensation they deserve.
Here’s Labour’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves tugging the heartstrings over the injustice that WASPI women have faced. After pretending to be on their side before the election, she now insists that they don’t deserve a penny in compensation.
Reeves loves to make a big song and dance about how she’s the first female Chancellor in history as if it’s some kind of victory for women in general, but what kind of win is it when she lied to WASPI women to steal their votes, then used her position of power to continue the injustice?
Here’s Labour’s Home Secretary Yvette Cooper pretending that she cared about the WASPI women.
Apparently she believed that the treatment of WASPI women was "completely unfair" and that they deserved "a fair deal".
Now she’s got her hands on a position of power she believes the opposite. Just look at her smile at the end of the clip. Rage inducing, isn’t it?
Here’s Labour’s Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner accusing the government of stealing WASPI women’s pensions and guaranteeing that Labour would compensate them for the theft.
How is this not exactly the kind of political lying that Labour MPs complained so vehemently about when Boris Johnson was doing it?
Liz Kendall is the Labour pensions minister who made the decision to deny WASPI women the compensation they deserve, and here she is before the election saying that she’ll "identify and deliver a fair solution".
How on earth is possible to see Labour’s WASPI betrayal as anything but vote stealing?
Reaction
According to insiders, the fury on the Labour benches is palpable. It’s not just that backbenchers are aghast at the electorally suicidal strategy of using the party’s mega-majority to mug pensioners again, scores of Labour MPs who had no say in this WASPI betrayal have been made to look like lying dickheads in front of their constituents.
It’s important to remember that it’s not just the women themselves who lost tens of thousands in pension payments and through literally years of paying additional National Insurance contributions, this pension theft has impacted their husbands, their children, and their grandchildren.
It’s not just the women and members of their families who lose out either. Reducing people’s wealth by stealing their pensions and forcing them to pay years of unexpected National Insurance contributions reduces their spending power and reduces economic demand. Fair compensation to WASPI women would have given the economy a nice little boost, but Labour clearly prefer to stick with the economically ruinous Tory strategy of austerity penny pinching.
You’d have to have a very selfish individualistic view of society to imagine that it’s only the women themselves who are going to be furious at this shocking Labour betrayal. High profile Labour MPs cynically lied to millions of people’s wives, people’s mums, people’s grannies, and people’s friends and neighbours, to steal their votes, only to callously shaft them as soon as they got their hands on power.
It’s impossible not to feel sorry for WASPI women who fell for Labour’s pre-election lies, but it’s not like this betrayal is remotely surprising to anyone who has been following Keir Starmer’s political career. He brazenly lied to Labour Party members to steal the party leadership in 2020, gleefully tore up his "10 pledges", and even bragged that he’d lie to people again to steal more political power.
You’d have to be insane to think Labour actually deserve congratulations on their abhorrent dishonesty and electorally suicidal behaviour, which brings us to the Starmtroopers who genuinely seem to believe that it was a fantastic idea for Labour politicians to lie to WASPI women to steal their votes and then screw them over.
Starmer and his acolytes are beyond delusional. Starmer reckons he’s not made a single mistake since becoming PM and that that the people are wrong to be angry at his dismal performance so far, and his obnoxious Labour-right cheerleaders are punching the air in delight at his government’s decision to mug pensioners again.
It’s astounding to see Starmtroopers actually celebrating as the party signs its own electoral death certificate like this.
The last working-class hero in England.
