I was in a laundrette a few days ago and there was another customer who was becoming quite distressed because she'd spent her allocated dryer 'budget' but her clothes were still damp. it was obvious that having to feed the machine more pound coins was going to cause problems with her - probably earmarked for an evening meal which she wouldn't be able to get any longer. I think no-one in government can understand how many people in the UK have to literally count their pennies to get by. There are so many scared to turn heating either on or up because they fear the bills and debt that will follow.
I suspect that the Labour front bench is a tad worried - this has been a bitterly cold day in London so it will be much worse in other parts of the UK. The first really cold spell and no way to spin the frozen dead. Increasingly, I feel that those in power responsible for the awful state of this country should be in prison.
