Report: Three hostages will be released on cease-fire deal's first day, four more a week later
Hamas would release three hostages on the first day of the cease-fire agreement, after which Israel would begin pulling back its forces from populated areas in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations told the BBC.
According to the official, Hamas would release four additional hostages a week later and Israel would allow displaced Palestinians to return on foot to the northern Strip. X-ray machines operated by a Qatari-Egyptian technical security team will be deployed.
The official added that Israeli forces will remain in the Philadelphi corridor and maintain an 800-meter buffer zone along the eastern and northern borders during the deal's first phase, which will last 42 days. 1,000 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be released from Israeli prisons during that stage, and Hamas will release 34 hostages.
