Ukraine on ‘irreversible path’ to Nato membership, Starmer tells Zelenskyy
On the same theme, I watched some of Question Time last night with George Monbiat (interestingly not billed as a "Guardian" journalist and commentator) who was gung-ho for supplying more and more (in fact endless and unlimited) weapons to Ukraine. He labelled one of the panel "Chamberain" for giving in to Putin and warned the audience that if Russia invaded the UK and took over Hampshire, Kent and Essex there would be some appeasers who would say it was OK so long as it went no further.
I think this man has a serious mental deficiency.
What I do find astonishing is that someone as "prominent" as Monbiat doesn't know or certainly never mentions the reason why Russia "invaded a sovereign nation" (as Monbiat put it) was to prevent Nato missiles being installed within close range of Moscow. The US wouldn't stand for it in 1962 and ditto Russia today. Yet Monbiat fears if we don't defeat Russia they will march into Rumania, Poland, and continue westwards.
There was really no difference at all between Monbiat's utterances and the most rabid right-wing blood-thirsty warmonger and rabble-rouser.
Has it always been thus?
