I think your take on it is dead on as far as Taibbi goes and it's what I've posted on him here several times. I was a big fan and still rate all of his books as superb journalism but it's clear what he's done and why.

Dore however is pure grifter and much like Taibbi just (without the credit of the journalistic record behind him or even the pretence of investigative journalism to come) and it's utterly obvious. Dore isn't trying to convert anyone; he's click farming and spewing MAGA talking points because it gets the most dollars.

Greenwald was always a liberatarian but the thing that brought him to most liberal's attention was Assange so they assumed he was "one of them" on all the other issues. His "arrangement" with Thiel is troubling though as covered in "Owned".
