Photo-electric detectors are at least as good (better in some circumstances) and inexpensive (prices are comparable), neither do they release low-level radiation when they are incinerated (although the plastic is still a problem). I, therefore, ask whether it is possible for either you to provide, or to provide myself, photo-electric smoke detectors for this property and/or to consider (for the reasons I've outlined) making photo-electric detectors standard?"
