Actually, to my amazement I didn't get the pun until the penultimate post. Why? I haven't had any Quaker Oats for many a decade.

My take .. one shouldn't be so hoity-toity about the puns, it has been our 'culture' for so many years (amplified by telly for a couple of decades or so). I did hate so many of them, but hey .. they can be funny . Especially if you don't get them immediately, like I didn't .
