...if he would have been allowed to continue his writings at The Guardian and used by them as some sort of fig leaf or maybe just "let go" for some spurious reason?
I never considered him in the top echelons of Middle East reporting but boy, was he leagues ahead of anything the msm here had to offer.
I do miss his humanity and his contributions.
