"The Russians played an effective role in convincing Assad to drop Iran and any Iranian plane that would land in Syria needed the approval of the Russians first and Assad next."

Assad also forbade Iran and Hezbollah from firing one bullet at the Israelis.

"This current war against Iran helps Russia and China by distracting the US's attention away from both of those countries. If the US is deflecting weapons from Ukraine to Israel then that helps Russia."

Which suggests Russia and China won't be helping Iran any time soon. Might even suggest Russia is in some way responsible for this attack on Iran. Might explain why Russia is so friendly with Israel.
