I felt it was essential to make this comment on Youtube, below the line on my Palestine Action video, in view of some of the truly disgusting things being said.

This is about the actions of the Israeli government and the Western governments supporting it. You cannot generalise those actions to a people, most of whom are in no way responsible for them. In fact, among the many brave people resisting the Israeli government and the states supporting it are Jews, in Israel and around the world. I too have Jewish heritage. There is no excuse for blaming the Jewish people as a whole for what that terrible government and its ideological backers are doing. There is no excuse, ever, for antisemitism, just as there is no excuse for any other form of racism, Islamophobia, homophobia or any other prejudice. By expressing such views, you do nothing but harm to the Palestinian cause and to your own credibility. Thanks.'

He doesn't provide any examples. I scrolled through the comments for quite a while (not looking at the replies to individual comments) and all I saw was one reference to an 'Austrian painter' who had the 'right idea' and a play on words involving the word 'jew' referring to western powers' support for israel. In fact it was striking how almost unanimously positive & supportive the comments were, barring a very small scattering of gammons complaining about the damage done to the aeroplane. So why does GM feel 'it was essential' to jump in and correct the views of random commenters on youtube, given that there are always racist trolls in internet comment sections no matter what the subject matter of the video? Can't help the feeling it's more to cover his own arse.

For the record, I too 'feel it is essential' to note that Monbiot said f* all in defense of the Jewish people objecting to the a/s witch hunt in the labour party, which he also endorsed.

Anyway, triggered as usual... I'll leave it there.
