Hi t
On Sunday morning’s The Crispin Flintoff Show, live on Zoom from 10:30am to 12:30pm, we hear from Keith Hackett, a former Labour councillor from Liverpool. Keith recently displayed a poster in support of Palestine Action in his window, expecting to be arrested under the new proscription. Instead, police officers told him that because the poster was inside a private dwelling, no offence had been committed. In newspaper reports, Hackett described himself as 'gobsmacked' by their decision and called the banning of Palestine Action 'madness'.
Joining him is Margaret Owen, who has also been displaying a poster in her window in Hammersmith and has publicly urged the police to come and arrest her. Both Keith and Margaret have shown how the legislation is already proving unworkable.
This discussion comes ahead of a major demonstration next Saturday in Westminster, organised by Defend our Juries. More than 1,000 people are expected to display banners in support of Palestine Action and to refuse to give their names or details to police.
With only 600 police cells in London, the protest could be a turning point for the new law and for the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper.
Etc.
