It's the weapon handling (caching, picking up, assembling, disassembling, reassembling, dumping) that doesn't add up. And he went to all that trouble but then apparently just owns up on a Discord chat thread and gets nicked then declines to cooperate at all.
There's a certain element of macho dick measuring going on but if you go on some gun forums they have a very different impression of a 200 yard shot with a scoped Mauser to that of a lot of non-shooters; i.e. it's no big deal if you are reasonably proficient. I think some people get misled because it hit him in the neck and they think that must have been the aim point which makes it seem more accurate. It's more likely he was aiming for the head and the round dropped more than he expected, probably due to not correcting for elevation enough.
I agree that there's still a lot of discrepancies and narrative shaping around "facts" that don't fit together.
The paving over the shooting scene before they've found the bullet is also a big wtf?
