‼️Breaking ‼️: The Israeli Military Has Erected A Naval Blockade to Stop The Global Sumud Flotilla
Reportedly, there are at least 10-12 Israeli naval ships around less than 20 miles from where the fleet is currently located. Some reports suggest they are as close as five miles away.
Organizers are preparing crews before they reach the blockade and are treating it as an interception scenario.
Organizer Thiago Avila told Drop Site: “We are arriving at a decisive moment of our mission... Right now we are moving closer to what seems to be their military blockade. From seven to twenty miles from here, there is a huge concentration of vessels and it matches the stated plans from the Israeli foreign ministry and the media consensus about what would happen tonight. And their stated plan of intercepting illegally our mission to break the siege and to create a humanitarian corridor.”

The Global Sumud Flotilla is still sailing, despite having been approached twice by unidentified vessels - believed to be Israeli navy - in the night.
Updates:
- It is now approaching 110 nautical miles of Gaza, close the point at which the Madleen was intercepted in June. (The Handala got closer than this, in July).
- Some participants have been able to get a little bit of sleep - which is good, as depriving them of this could be an Israeli tactic.
- The flotilla is currently 41 boats sailing together, with one more attempting to catch up (but some way behind).
- One boat diverged off course in the night, and has now been removed from the tracker, suggesting it has left the mission.
- Two observer boats, Shireen and Summertime, have hung back to avoid interception.
- Life Support, the Italian NGO boat, said yesterday that it would also stop at an agreed point, as its mission is to observe and support the flotilla, but not to go all the way. Marine tracking data suggests it stopped yesterday.
- The Italian naval frigate is believed to have left.
- Spanish media has reported that Spain’s boat may be keeping a distance from the flotilla, but remains nearby. It will reportedly continue to 24 miles from the coast of Gaza, where territorial waters begin.
- The location of Turkey's frigate is unknown.
If the boats are not intercepted, they will arrive in Gaza tomorrow morning at around 10am, organisers just told a press conference.
Usually, interception happens at night. (Although this flotilla might not be usual.) So tonight will be key.
In the event of interception, organiser Saif Abukeshek says: "Air, land and sea, we will continue mobilising."
