I've noticed a few times when he seems to have a blind spot even now to certain things that you just know he has to know about. Guess it really is true there's no such thing as an "ex" spook.

Having said that, a lot of it does seem to be him not going along with Candace Owens and her various theories so it might just be noses getting put out of joint by someone not being in their in-crowd although he does seem to swerve into a more general "people always want to see a conspiracy" type of dimissal which is sure to get people annoyed given his past career.
