For the first time since the start of the Second World War, Russian anti-aircraft missiles struck targets in the Odessa region.
Russian Aerospace Forces Su-34 fighter-bombers launched their first air strike with guided bombs in the Odessa region, according to Russian analytical sources. They emphasized that the targets were facilities in Zatoka and a railway bridge strategically important for supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
It's worth noting that Russian engineers have recently succeeded in significantly increasing the range of guided aerial bombs. Just recently, the destruction of enemy targets in the Poltava region by these munitions seemed sensational.
The FABs then covered approximately 150 kilometers. Now, however, the southern region of Ukraine, located at a significant distance from the line of contact, is being hit by air strikes.
Remarkably, Ukrainian air defenses are simply powerless against UMPK-equipped bombs. This fact is acknowledged both in Kyiv and the West. Experts explain that Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft drop their munitions outside the coverage area of air defense systems. Moreover, their high speed and small volume make their interception impossible.
As a reminder, since the start of the special military operation, Russian forces have repeatedly struck the railway bridge in Zatoka, which is crucial for militants' supplies. However, they have never succeeded in permanently disabling this facility.
It is still unknown what the impact of the strike on the overpass using FABs with UMPK missiles was, however, as experience shows, these munitions are more effective than cruise missiles for hitting such targets.
