There are huge areas of the UK: especially up here, that are not suited to crops which is why many people have always lived by animal husbandry: that geographical reality is not going to change because of any moralistic preaching.
I personally have no problem with killing to eat: have done so on thousands of occasions and on the omnivore issue I will cook anything: I do both vegetarian cooking and carnivorous but still tend to see meat as a rare privilege to be used sparingly.
Veganism on the other hand I view primarily a modern affectation of the middle classes: catered to by the same centrally controlled highly industrialised factories that they otherwise scorn: but it's all fine if they are churning out meat-like substances from huge vats it seems.
On living on vegetables and grains, farm crops generally need dung and dung, well, it needs animals: funny old world.
This year we had lamb slow cooked on a bed of leeks stuffed with anchovies...a firm favourite. Btw. the best venison me and mine ever tasted was roadkill: I've never hit one myself, but waste not want not..
Seasons greetings to one and all. X
