robably in London review of books.
Nothing to gainsay here, but nothing to surprise. Three days are a long time in a world war. Butler does not ask why the neck-and neck polls seemed to get it wrong.
Probably they did not get it wrong. A slice of the Gorton population were Undecid during fieldwork
So what happened to make the Undecided of Gorton change their minds?. A likely answer is the last minute apparition of Keir Starmer, the very man who robbed them of the chance to vote for Burnham. His mere presence is repuolsive enougth to lose his party votes and seats. That is why the PLP careerists will not allow him to lead them in the General election. That is why they will keep him in place to absorb all the blame for the forthecomin ming local election disaster
