The US Navy, when CSG-10 arrives on station, will have as many as 17 destroyers
in the vicinity of the Arabian Sea.
I figure the admirals are not as clueless as they often seem, so they will deem
it necessary to use at least a full dozen of those destroyers to protect the
carriers, leaving five to play pirate, along with Marines from the amphibious
ready group.
That game will last until one or more of the following very conceivable things
happen:
🔹 The Iranians execute powerful strikes against a destroyer or two.
🔹 One or more helicopters is shot down trying to land Marines on a big ship
where an ambush has been laid.
🔹 An aircraft carrier ventures too close and is - in a flash, as it were -
disabled by a "lucky shot" (or four) from a large salvo of Iranian drones and
missiles.
🔹 The Chinese and Russians start running warship-escorted convoys.
The myth of American military impregnability has already been deeply shaken by
the events of the past 52 days. But the imperial priests and priestesses have
persuaded the generals and admirals that the empire must be preserved at all
costs.
This is how things go from bad to worse.

U.S. forces patrol the Arabian Sea near M/V Touska, April 20, as the
Iranian-flagged vessel's container cargo is searched after U.S. Marines boarded
and seized the ship when it attempted to violate the U.S. naval blockade.
