Tourist dies after cobra crawls into his trousers during Egypt snake-charming show

A German man died after a snake crawled into his trousers and bit him during a performance at a hotel in Egypt. The 57-year-old was watching a snake-charming show in Hurghada in early April while on holiday with two relatives, the Guardian reported.

Police in the southern German state of Bavaria said the show involved two snakes, believed to be cobras, being draped over the necks of audience members. A police statement said the snake charmer then let one of the snakes crawl into the man’s trousers, where it bit him in the leg.

The man showed clear signs of poisoning and required resuscitation before being transported to a hospital, where he later died, the Guardian reported.

German police and prosecutors were investigating the death and were awaiting the results of toxicology tests. The victim, who was not named by authorities, was from the Unterallgäu district of Bavaria, the Guardian reported.
