"Trump just torched Fujairah and turned around! Without any preliminary
judgement, let's quickly walk through what happened over the past few days.
➡️First, Trump abruptly announced he intended to force open the Strait of Hormuz
- without Iran's consent and against its will.
➡️The following day, the US military declared it would provide armed escort to
ships through the strait, breaking Iran's control of the waterway by force.
➡️And so it began. US destroyers moved in. But the overwhelming majority of
shipping companies - knowing full well how hollow American posturing tends to be
- didn't move an inch and refused to gamble their assets on this bluff. A
handful of ships with worse judgment tried to transit anyway. They caught fire.
➡️Meanwhile, the UAE claimed that Fujairah had been struck by missiles and
drones. The exact origin of the attacks was never fully established - but
Fujairah was burning regardless.
➡️Ships that defied the blockade burned. Fujairah burned. And the US destroyers
found themselves stuck in the middle - probably asking each other what exactly
they were even doing there.
➡️Trump quickly declared his operation a failure. The ships were already on fire,
Fujairah was ablaze, and the destroyers were adrift with no clear mission.
➡️Tonight, Trump ordered the stranded destroyers to withdraw - but even on their
way out, they came under sustained attack from the Iranian Navy.
➡️So here's the full picture: the destroyers came in, got stuck, and went
home. The strait remains under Iran's control. A South Korean vessel and several
others burned. And Fujairah - according to the UAE itself - suffered significant
damage to key infrastructure."
