My husband and I watch a lot of old movies (too many). Many are from the time of or about WW2. Mostly western propaganda films. Last night we watched The Guns of Navarone.

What's remarkable is that the evil Nazis (exaggerated? I don't know) are no worse than Israel and in some cases, not as bad (eg, they actually took prisoners of war and supposedly, adhered to some conventions about their treatment). Even the methods - forcing people to obey by violently terrorizing their communities, publicly killing people as an example to others, herding people around, taking over property and territory, stealing valuables, torturing intercepted resistance fighters, being jolly about doing all of that - are pretty much identical.
Also similar is the courage and sacrifice of the resistance fighters and those who supported them.

I guess Israel learned from the best.
