Excellent draughtsman...crap painter.

As a person, anecdotally if my memory serves me right, he once embarked on a series of paintings of a view by the side of an English wood throughout the seasons. Alas he discovered the wood was to be cut down...so he bought it. Good man! I thought. Then I was informed that after he was finished his series the shit sold it to be cut down anyway.
