By denying Iran and Hezbollah a role in protecting Syria didn't they expedite the fall of Syria? Basically giving the US the opportunity to then pivot, as they say, towards Iran.

And then the new head of Syria visits the Kremlin!

I, obviously, don't have the makings of a good politician. I'm missing the bloody minded streak.
