I gave up Twitter for Lent (not a bit religious, just find it easy to take a break from things when there are defined start & end dates). I haven't gone back.

I love Twitter for the immediacy, the many good (decent, well informed, in the know) people you find there, and the range of opinion and discussion. But the cruel ugly views expressed there are soul destroying. It breaks my heart that people can be so dismissive of their fellow human beings. Plus for me, it is a massive time waster. I can't help but go down the spiral of comments.

I was worried that giving it up would put me out of the loop but to be honest, I'm out of the loop anyway. Not doing Twitter gives me more time to read articles, check out other sites, etc.

I didn't go to BlueSky out of concern that it would be an echo chamber of another sort.
